Rejects on the Ledge

Rejects

I know it's been awhile in the last couple of months. I have been in this "I am so busy I can't do anything" mode.  For the most part, I have been working on creating pieces for the Textile Study Group of  New York 's upcoming Economies of Scale gallery show in January. See more information here. All pieces most be smaller then 6" X 6" X 6". So Ihave been working on little crocheted creatures. I started making white on white animals, then I morphed into using recycled materials. My last exploration were more in the line of figural/abstract forms. The three pieces I picked are a good mixture of what I have been working on since June. Above are the pieces that just didn't make the cut.

P.S. I want to thank Piper for nominating me for the "I Love Your Blog" Award. Her work is beautiful and she always gives me the most encouraging words. So thanks Piper!!!!

Island Bingo Bunnie

Island

This is for Illustration Friday. The topic is "Island". Now that the summer is over, I thought this was fitting...to see the ocean one last time. I haven't gotten out more watercolors in awhile or even my acrylics for here they both are. Just a silly little piece to get my day started. Hope it puts a smile on your face!

Carrots Carrots Everywhere

Clutter
This is a little doodle for Illustration Friday. The topic is "Clutter". I had wanted to do this on a Bingo card. I did a sketch first in my Moleskin...I have been getting better about sketching lately. When I transfered the image to the card, it just didn't work out. The sketch worked out much better, so here you go.
I am back from a week at the beach and thought I'd be much more creative then I was. I just sat out, got a sunburn (yes, I was under an umbrella with 50 sunscreen on) and watched a lot of Bravo on tv. I have three more days to be creative...wish me luck!

Preserving Memories

Framedbunnies_detail

Even bunnies want to have their pictures taken. This is for Illustration Friday. It is a silkscreen print I made at a workshop earlier this summer. With the topic being "Memories" and having a trip this weekend, I just couldn't resist posting this again. I just love this print.

Detached Circus

Circus

I am posting this for Illustration Friday. The topic is "Detach". I am feeling a bit detached from the blog world that I am posting am oldie but a goodie. I originally was thinking I was going to do something inspired by this, which I think is hysterical. Then I saw am illustration where the head was decapitated from its body. I then stated to think about paper dolls. I was just about to make a paper bunny with movable parts. I then remembered a group project I participated in where we all made paper doll Circus performers. I made the tight-rope walker above. Here is the pdf file containing all the DETACHED body parts for you to make one yourself. Enjoy!

The Ultimate Up-Do

Sail

This is for Illustration Friday. The topic is "Sail". I immediately thought of the scene from Marie Antoinette, with the ship in the big wig. I love that and I really wanted to show my bingo card bunny with big eyelashes. So here is my interpretation. I am out the door for the weekend but I will put this in my shop on Sunday. On sale now!

Bah Bah Black Sheep

Poof

These two porcupines never wanted to be a black sheep so badly. Just look at the poof! This is for Illustration Friday. The topic is "Poof!". Although this isn't a bunny, the collage is on a Bingo card. I was really temped to do a bunny coming out of a magicians hat but thought that was way too simple. Happy Friday!

Enough!

Enough
Here is my entry for Illustration Friday. The topic is "Enough". I am tired and had enough so I am submitting a Gocco print I did last week. I have been meaning to post this all week and put a couple on my shop. I haven't done so yet but will update my shop in the next week.  Now in my shop!
And for the Give Away...It took me a week to choose who to give the Sour Illustration Friday piece and I choose Now Entering Momville! I picked her because I love the idea that it will be a present for a child. Warms my heart! Thanks everyone for visiting my bog!
